The Xiaomi 14T Pro is essentially a larger version of the Xiaomi 14 flagship, which launched about six months ago. However, instead of the Snapdragon processor found in the original, the 14T Pro comes equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity chip. Despite this change, the 14T Pro maintains the premium look, feel, and performance you’d expect from a high-end device. Hopefully, the price won’t be as premium though Xiaomi’s T-series models are typically more affordable than flagship offerings from brands like Google or Samsung. As I’m writing this review ahead of Xiaomi’s official UK launch, I don’t have exact pricing just yet. Still, based on previous trends, the 14T Pro should offer a more budget-friendly option compared to its competition, including that “Apple bollocks” dominating the September release window.
I’ve been using the Xiaomi 14T Pro as my primary device for just over a week now, and here’s my full review.
Design and Build Quality: Bigger and Heftier Than the 14 Flagship
The Xiaomi 14 was a delightfully compact 6.4-inch device, but the 14T Pro takes a more standard approach with its 6.67-inch display. While one-handed use can be tricky, Xiaomi has included a handy one-handed mode to make things easier. The phone weighs in at 227g, giving it a substantial heft this is no lightweight device.
Xiaomi continues the trend of flat displays for its flagship smartphones, with no curved edges here. The bezels are relatively slim, though the phone isn’t as sleek as some competitors like the iPhones. Speaking of which, like Apple’s devices, the edges of the Xiaomi 14T Pro are completely flat. However, subtle curvature around the back improves hand feel, making it surprisingly comfortable to hold despite its size.
The frame is made of aluminum alloy, giving the phone a premium look and feel, while the back features a glass panel with a matte finish that resists smudging and fingerprints. According to Xiaomi, the 14T Pro uses Gorilla Glass on both the front and back, though I’m still waiting for confirmation. In any case, you’ll find a pre-installed screen protector and a TPU case in the box for extra protection. The device is also IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, so no need to worry if it takes a dunk in water.
Color Options and Unlocking Features:
The model I’m reviewing is the “Titan Gray,” but you can also get the 14T Pro in Titan Blue or Titan Black nothing too wild in terms of color choices. For unlocking the device, Xiaomi includes an in-display optical fingerprint sensor that’s responsive and quick. Face unlock is also impressively fast, with barely any time spent on the lock screen.
Display: Crisp, Bright, and Customizable
For entertainment lovers, the Xiaomi 14T Pro’s 6.67-inch AMOLED display is a treat. The 2712 x 1220 pixel resolution ensures visuals are sharp, and the 12-bit color depth, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision support make for a premium viewing experience. The default color profile is called “Original,” and it delivers natural, realistic visuals. However, if you prefer more vivid colors, there’s an option to switch to a “Vivid” mode. The display also offers extensive customization, including settings for the P3 and sRGB color gamuts.
This screen can get incredibly bright, too. Even on sunny days outdoors, I had no trouble seeing the display. It’s flicker-free, certified by TÜV Rheinland, and supports up to 144Hz refresh rates for apps that can handle it. The stereo speakers, complete with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio certification, make the audio experience equally enjoyable. The sound is loud, clear, and surprisingly bass-heavy for a smartphone.
Performance: All Big Cores, All Power
Powering the Xiaomi 14T Pro is MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ chipset, which features all high-performance cores—no half-sized efficiency cores here. Backed by 12GB of RAM, the everyday performance is generally smooth, with only minor slowdowns if you’re multitasking heavily (like streaming a video while browsing).
When it comes to gaming, the 14T Pro holds its own. Titles like “Genshin Impact“ ran smoothly even at high graphics settings with 60fps enabled. The only issue? Heat. After 25–30 minutes of gaming, the phone heats up noticeably, though Xiaomi’s 3D Ice Loop coolant system does help manage it. Despite the heat, performance remains relatively stable, though I did notice minor frame drops.
Xiaomi includes HyperOS’s gaming mode, which offers performance boosts, screen recording, and other gaming-focused features.
Battery Life and Charging: HyperCharge to the Rescue
A 5000mAh battery powers the Xiaomi 14T Pro, and after a few days of use, the battery life leveled out. I was consistently able to get through a full day of moderate to heavy use with around 30% left by bedtime. Gaming, however, can drain the battery quickly. Fortunately, Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge support means you can fully recharge the device in under an hour. There’s also support for 50W wireless charging if you have a compatible charging pad.
Camera: Impressive for the Price
The camera system on the Xiaomi 14T Pro is headlined by a 50MP Light Fusion 900 primary sensor, which also appeared in the Xiaomi 14. It excels in natural-looking color reproduction, especially in softer lighting. Fine details are preserved, and shadows appear more realistic compared to the artificially brightened images you’d get from competitors like Apple.
You can choose between two camera modes: Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant. I mostly stuck with the Authentic mode, which delivers more true-to-life photos. The Vibrant mode boosts brightness and saturation for a more exaggerated look, similar to what you’d see from Apple or Samsung.
There’s also a 50MP telephoto lens with 30x zoom, which is excellent for getting closer to your subject without losing too much detail. However, you’ll want to avoid using the maximum zoom, as it leads to fuzziness. Lastly, the 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens captures colors just as naturally as the main camera.
For video recording, you have multiple options, including 8K at 24 or 30fps and 4K at up to 60fps. The Xiaomi 14T Pro offers impressive video quality, with sharp details and good stabilization, even when recording on the move.
Conclusion: A Solid, Affordable Flagship Alternative
After using the Xiaomi 14T Pro for over a week, I’ve come away impressed with its performance and value. While it’s not as groundbreaking as some competitors, it offers a solid flagship experience without the flagship price tag. The natural-looking photos, a wide range of video options, and bright, customizable display are definite highlights. Performance is strong, though the phone does get warm during intense gaming sessions. Battery life is solid, and Xiaomi’s fast-charging tech is a lifesaver.
If you’re looking for a premium device that won’t break the bank, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is definitely worth considering.
