Samsung Z Flip 6 or Z Fold 6 Review – Don’t make a mistake

The Samsung Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, highlighting the compromises made for the folding features. While the Fold 6 offers a larger screen, it comes with a noticeable crease, a poor under-display camera, and a compromised battery life. The Flip 6, on the other hand, is a more practical option, offering a flagship experience with a folding design.

A few weeks ago I switched my Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra for Samsung’s newest folding smartphone the Z flip 6 and Z fold 6 and cards on the table I got some bones to pick so starting with the fold on one hand this is nice a neatened up lighter thinner faster version of the last phone but every time I take it out from my pocket I also can’t help but feel like Samsung hasn’t fixed the fundamental issues here and I’m not sure Samsung is even trying to fix the fundamental issues so if you’re coming

Switch from Non-foldable Smartphone to a Foldable Smartphone:

From a non-folding phone, the first thing you will see is the crease; today, I find it difficult to understand how even six Generations in Samsung still hasn’t able to merely repair the line going down the middle of their screen. One gen folding phones from companies like OnePlus have already shown how better they can be done. They only have to work on the hinge. Only this phone is pinching on the screen each time you close it.

Using it more can help you to get more evident. If this were a $800 phone coming from the s24 ultra, you truly might feel the compromise. The main back cameras are decent. Whether that’s the more limited Zoom range the somewhat less reliable focusing system owing of the lack of laser autofocus or just the extra amount of graininess that creeps into dark images and recordings. Though most people who go out and purchase and use this phone most likely won’t know what they’re losing out on, that is my job.

Having told you using both of these phones that what you’re getting here stings a little bit especially considering that the zold 6 will cost you $1,900 while a brand-new Galaxy s24 Ultra for around $1,000 is now available. Two times the cost makes perfect sense to me that the original Galaxy fold was far more costly than a standard PHM. For something Samsung, building all the new parts and concepts from scratch would have needed a lot of R&D.

They had to repay the expense somehow as they did not anticipate to sell many copies; yet, this is not the case in the current market with this hinge and this folding screen. These are standard Parts of this phone almost probably does not cost more than $200 extra to create yet it’s like $800 to $900 more expensive to you. For no other reason than that’s become the default expectation for a defect and they know they can get away with it spending $1900 for a phone you would expect this to be the place Samsung throws everything.

Samsung Z Fold 6:

One thing they found at the wall, but rather you have essentially the same camera arrangement as not even the s24 ultra. Though your selfie cameras and the little base Galaxy s24 are considerably worse, the front one is not too bad. Ten MP photos that accentuate your natural beauty. Though the inner 4 MP camera makes you appear sick, it’s normal Samsung fair; I mean not as a complement. Actually, looking at pictures on this makes me think of capturing images with the PlayStation Portable camera fifteen years ago.

This camera is low quality regardless since it is meant for video calling. You will thus not observe the resolution. I disagree, though, that the resolution is so poor such that 4K video cannot be recorded with it. Which I have found myself wanting to do a quite reasonable lot the camera seems to have a persistent faintness to it probably due of the extra layer of pixels on top of it. Furthermore considering the whole draw of a phone is to use it when it’s open and utilize flex mode to raise the device up to film videos.

Still, it’s a good improvement as the front screen is broader than it used to be. They have cleaned all of the odd Corner screen bezels, looking more orderly. Still, it feels a little bit like no man’s land. Given what this is, it’s quite near to feeling as though you’re using a regular phone, which is remarkable. Still, it’s just a little bit too tall a little bit too narrow and a reasonable amount chunkier than a Barone in every other sense. This entire construction produces some thermal compromise.

It’s not particularly shocking. In other words, when unfolded, you are lighting a bigger screen. This generates more heat, and hence a thicker slab results from folding. This makes evacuation of that heat more difficult. This is not a nice bonus that just influences your gaming frame rates following extended play times. Many times, when I have this phone open, the outside temperature seems to be really mild. I find that my screen is barely visible since it dimming itself to attempt and prevent overheating.

It’s really gone one step further and won not open my apps due of temperature. To clarify, I do not reside on some subtropical Paradise Island under constant Sun. I call the United Kingdom home. I have no reason I should be getting temperature alerts. This extreme with regular use. Oh yes , one of the things I love about the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the battery life that’s one phone I have never had to worry about. But this puts it very much in the worry Zone since it runs out anywhere between 15 and 25% faster with a smaller battery capacity and a larger screen to power it. I mean, I do practically always carry along a power bank today. I’m not left abandoned, but that helps me realize how much more often I am grabbing for power here. The Flip does somewhat address this, but I’m getting to that phone.Though naturally they did it in 2024, Samsung also paid a lot of attention to the new artificial intelligence capabilities here. Some of them are I would say the great majority do.

AI Features in Samsung Z Fold 6:

Still fall into the fun to play with, but I won’t use often category. Though they just constantly provide more possibilities, the most practical kind of artificial intelligence features are those that let you perform what you currently do but better or faster. This is why I love the idea of all of this automatic translation stuff like being able to have a WhatsApp chat across a usualy impenetrable language barrier but not actually have to consider the language barrier anymore and also the new smart select tool since you know we are only human and there is only so many features you could be able to integrate into your life. That’s exactly what I was stating. It’s producing the kinds of things you currently do. Anyways, I was also quite thrilled about the new sketch to picture as I was fiddling about and choosing items faster. There are times when everything goes as planned and you find yourself in the protagonist in a superh hero movie at the single moment when unbounded power has just been dropped in your lap. You manage to precisely place a one-of- a-kind dinosaur in the scene of your day out in the park.

Still, I would suggest that current restrictions are excessive. There seems to be some kind of safety limit. Regarding adding items to faces—that is, considering all the Havoc Deep fakes have caused recently—that makes logical, but then at the same time faces are the most practical object you could wish to add to. Besides additional problems. I’m stumbling into either create smaller items or draw objects closer together to generate. You know what using this function continually reminds me of exactly how ridiculous it is that the one phone deliberately made to look and feel like a not ad does not come with a built-in S Pen? Samsung just isn’t ready for my great ideas yet. The only true remaining question is then whether the folding characteristics make it all worth it. The S24 Ultra is the smaller of the two phones. I consider myself to have made rather obvious.

Major Issues in Samsung Z Fold 6:

By now you are spending twice as much money you are dealing with a crease a horrible unders screen camera two displays with unorthodox aspect ratios a compromised battery and no S Pen. You are giving up a lot to achieve these features. So should you well as far as the actual act of being able to prop your phone up on level surfaces. That feels great. Though it’s not really important, I have used it a decent bit to track time lapses of events occurring or view movies on a Plane by setting the phone up on my trade table. Actually, utilizing a regular phone with a kickstand cover will provide you a very better experience. Usually times with these covers magnets for better wireless charging, and you will obtain a larger more natural screen ratio. I mean there are things that specifically make use of the display on this phone Starting with the taskbar, an incredible addition this entire one tap to quickly be in another R is a truly UNG gimicky efficiency improvement that you simply cannot have on a smaller phone.

In the end it’s not for me. You may recall that I spent a few months trying to use an iPad as my primary computer and the whole reason that failed was just the mobile operating system. Likewise here; albeit it is remarkable. For a phone, how much this gadget can accomplish. The truth is that for most people this phone is still somewhat too clunky and not quite efficient enough to be a suitable main computer which makes it difficult to justify given this price. You can really get a nice similar performing flagship phone and yet save the money for a fantastic laptop. So fold and, if you are considering purchasing this, be sure you will most certainly need this particular folding characteristics. Either stretched or pinched, if you indulge on a fold and all you finish up doing is playing Candy Crush will be a bad buy choice. These Z folds seem to be a bit caught here. Not very many people are making purchases of them. Samsung seems to have lost the will to truly address the basic compromises, which results in their continuous difficulty to suggest outside of their Niche.

Samsung Z Flip 6:

The Flip 6 though is actually very different and in my opinion a phone that makes more sense. If the fold is the insecure teenager trying desperately to be something they’re not the flip is its eccentric sibling who sure they’re a little bit odd. But they understand who they’re trying to be through many years of bulking up the specs. On these phones ITA Samsung’s now got to a stage where the Galaxy Z flip 6 is basically a flagship. Galaxy S24 Plus that costs $1 to $200 more but folds in half and that isn’t pointless. It’s partialy just a bit of fun which doesn’t hurt in an era where everyone’s always saying that smartphones have peaked. I can’t lie if Samsung ever gave you the option to have their top end Ultra phones also fold without any compromises.

I take it in a heartbeat and they’ve really dialed into that fun with all the unique front screen customization and funky case options. The new photo ambient feature which  overlays real weather effects onto photos that you’ve taken. it’s very pointless but brings me joy. it’s got a potential lifestyle benefit because unlike the front of the Z Fold 6, which is basically just a slightly less comfortable phone, the front of the Flip 6. It has a very clearly distinct feature set to the main screen. This is much more like having a smartphone and then a completely separate smart watch as opposed to this which is like a smartphone and then a slightly worse smartphone. When I switched over to the Z Flip 5 last year I did find that the physical barrier to go from this Smartwatch stage to the smartphone stage. Actually did make me use my phone and then you do lose the three times telephoto camera that the s24 plus has. So you only get a main and an ultra wide but I would actually say that it makes up for it with. Selfies see unlike the Fold which can use its high-end rear cameras to take selfies.

Here that’s actually the default way to take selfies. If you want to take good selfies on the fold you have to unfold open the camera flip that camera tap the cover screen preview button physically turn the phone over being careful not to swipe anything on screen and then take your shot before closing it all back up again. Here you just double tap the power button and then tap the screen. This phone is a unique proposition that makes it distinct and useful for more than 1% of the population.

Now there are a few things that I would say are compromised like you still have to deal with the crease. But for whatever reason it is significantly less noticeable on this Flip than it is the Fold. The buttons are a little high up when the phone’s open. I do feel like they could quite easily shove them down and they’d still work fine in both unfolded and folded States. The screen is a little bit tall not as tall as the cover screen on the fold but still taller than I’d like and it’s only got a 1080p resolution as opposed to the Quad HD that you get on their flat flagships. I think that’s okay I keep my phone on 1080p anyways for battery life and temperature reasons and it’s got the same chip as the s24 ultra. Same Ram same base storage same wireless charging speeds and yeah the battery capacity is smaller too just like the Fold. Also has a smaller battery than normal bar phones but unlike the Fold which is like a normal phone that extends into a big tablet this is a normal phone that folds into something half that size which means you save lot of battery compared to a normal phone and you end up with something very close to that of an S24 Plus. My through line for this phone is very much that six Generations in you still have to make compromises for a phone that folds if all you want is the best bang for your buck It isn’t this and to be honest it never will be.Though Flip 6 is really quite different and in my view a phone that makes more sense. If the fold is the insecure adolescent striving frantically to be someone they’re not the flip, its wacky sibling is confident they’re a little bit weird. But over many years of bulking out the specs, they know who they are aiming to be. These phones allow ITA Samsung to reach a position where the Galaxy Z flip-six is essentially flagship. Though it folds in half and that isn’t useless, Galaxy S24 Plus costs one to two hundred extra. In a time when everyone is constantly claiming that cellphones have peaked, it’s only a bit of fun that wouldn’t hurt. If Samsung ever provided you the choice to have their top end Ultra phones also fold without any concessions, I cannot lie.

I grab it in a moment and they have really tuned into that enjoyment with all the unusual front screen customizing and crazy case possibilities. The new picture ambient tool overlays actual weather effects on images you have captured. Though it’s utterly meaningless, it makes me happy. It has a possible lifestyle advantage since, unlike the front of the Z Fold 6, which is essentially just a somewhat less comfy phone, the Flip 6’s front. Its feature set is very obviously different from the main screen. This is far more like having a smartphone and then a totally distinct smart watch than it is like having a smartphone and then a somewhat worse smartphone. When I moved to the Z Flip 5 last year, I discovered that there was a physical obstacle separating this Smartwatch stage from the smartphone stage. Actually did use my phone and subsequently you do lose the three times telephoto camera the s24 plus features. You therefore only get a main and an extreme wide, but I would actually say that it balances out. Unlike the Fold, which can snap selfies using its high-end back cameras, selfies view.

Actually, this is the recommended approach for snapping selfies. To get nice selfies on the fold, you have to unfold the camera flip, hit the cover screen preview button physically turn the phone over being cautious not to swipe anything on screen and then take your image before folding it all back up once more. Here you simply tap the screen after double tapping the power button. For about 1% of the population, this phone offers a special value that distinguishes and benefits them.

Now, I would suggest that you still have to cope with the crease, thus certain aspects are compromised. For whatever reason, though, it is far less obvious on this Flip than it is the Fold. When the phone opens, the buttons are a bit high up. Although they would still function in both unfolded and folded States, I do feel that they could quite simply shove them down. Though it is only 1080p resolution instead of the Quad HD you get on their flat flagships, the screen is somewhat tall not as much as the cover screen on the fold but still taller than I would want. That’s fine; I keep my phone on 1080p anyway for temperature and battery life; its chip is the same as the s24 ultra. Like the Fold, the battery capacity is smaller yet same Ram same basic storage similar wireless charging rates. Also has a smaller battery than normal bar phones but unlike the Fold which is like a normal phone that extends into a big tablet this is a normal phone that folds into something half that size which means you save lot of battery compared to a normal phone and you end up with something very near to that of an S24 Plus. If all you want is the best bang for your money, my through line for this phone is very much that six Generations in you still have to make concessions for a phone that folds. To be honest, this is not it; never will be.
